New Pastor Orientation

Sponsored by The Board of General Superintendents

The New Pastor Orientation is a special initiative of the Board of General Superintendents that brings new pastors to the World Headquarters of The Wesleyan Church for a denominational orientation.

Objectives
The objective of the Orientation is to bring together newly appointed pastors to--

  • Orient them to the history, doctrine, culture, and practices of the Church
  • Assist them in establishing support systems to ensure a good start in ministry
  • Build in them an appreciation for the value of belonging to the Church
  • Introduce them to General Church leaders
  • Identify and clarify expectations they may have of the Church and the Church may have of them
  • Inform them of the ministries, resources, and opportunities of the Church
  • Reinforce the mission of the Church in them
  • Give opportunity for Church leaders to share their passion for ministry and the mission of the Church

Participants
Persons are invited to attend who have received their first ministerial assignment with The Wesleyan Church within the past two years. The new ministerial appointment may be through transfer from another denomination or through completed requirements for credentialing. Spouses are encouraged to participate as well.

Schedule
The Orientation is scheduled for November 12-13, 2008. It begins at noon on Wednesday and concludes with lunch on Thursday.

Meals
All meals are provided on-site, with the exception of Thursday breakfast which is provided at the hotel.

Lodging
Lodging is provided at an area hotel, which will be identified after registration.

Registration can be completed by email. Include your name, address, email address, name of your district, name of your local church, and your ministerial assignment at that church. Send to: heerk@wesleyan.org.

Attire
Dress for the event is characterized as "business casual."

Cost
Because of a generous grant from the Wesleyan Investment Foundation, all on-site costs will be cared for. You will be responsible for your own travel costs.
