The latest Spiritual Formation “Huddle” included a best-selling author.
Sonja Burpo, co-author of Heaven is for Real for Kids, served as a speaker at the event held at Indiana Wesleyan University, in Marion, Indiana, February 25, 2012. Sonja is married to Todd Burpo, a Wesleyan pastor and co-author of Heaven is for Real. In both versions of the book, the Burpos’ son, Colton, recounts his trip to heaven during emergency surgery.
Approximately 275 people from five states represented seven districts of The Wesleyan Church. The Huddle, a children’s ministry training event promoted by the Spiritual Formation department of The Wesleyan Church, was sponsored by the Indiana Central, North, and South Districts, and Indiana Wesleyan University children’s ministry majors. Both vocational and volunteer leaders attended Huddle.
Dr. Jim Dunn, General Director of the Spiritual Formation department, reported that thirteen breakout sessions “refueled attendees,” further equipping them in areas of learning styles, kids’ quizzing, and innovative worship.
