The Houghton College track and field teams competed at the American Mideast Conference Championship meet on April 17 and 18 at Roberts Wesleyan College and walked away with five more provisional qualifying marks for the NAIA national meet.

For the men, Steve Scott broke the tape in the 400 hurdles with a time of 54.93 seconds. Joining him was Dan Ballard in the 5K, who finished in 15:11.39. That time was also enough to set a new school record in the event.

On the women's side, Kaitlin Fadden had a pair of provisional times. In the 5K, she finished in 18:07.65, and also qualified in the 10K with a mark of 38:48.74. The 4x800 team of Jessica Bramhall, Danielle Brenon, Darby Emerson, and Dana Cunningham crossed the line in 9:42.27, also a qualifying mark.

Hannah Gardner set a new school record in the hammer throw, with a distance of 129'5". The throw smashed the old record by 4'2".

The Highlanders will host a meet on Saturday, April 25. It will be Houghton's final tune-up before the national meet.
