Central Canada District Church Reaches Beyond its Borders

Oct. 28, 2009

A group of men from Laurentian Wesleyan Church recently shipped out 54 banana boxes full of donated Christian material, such as Bibles, hymnals and Sunday school material, to the Christian Salvage Mission (CSM). Since 2007, Laurentian Wesleyan Church, located in North Bay, Ontario, Canada, has shipped over two hundred boxes and 11,000 pounds of donated Christian resources to CSM.

CSM is based in Hamilton, Ontario, and serves as a nondenominational Christian organization dedicated to providing resources free of charge to churches, ministers, and missionaries in third world countries. Retired Pastor Lauren and Dorothy Redinger, who founded CSM back in the spring of 1994, realized there were many Christian books and resources in Canadian churches and homes that were no longer in use but were very much in need in other parts of the world. CSM was created to bring those resources together to send to those in need.

Laurentian Wesleyan Church partnered with CSM back in late 2006 with Ed Vitunski, a member of the church and area coordinator for CSM. The resources that Laurentian sends out are collected from churches and individuals in North Bay and the surrounding area. Materials are then shipped to CSM. Pastor Chris Lang, minister of Laurentian Wesleyan Church, says, "It is thanks to the generosity and the hard work of so many people that we've been able to make a positive difference and to help people get the resources that they very much want and need."
