Houghton Women’s Soccer Advances to Conference Final

The last time the Houghton College women’s soccer team (15-1-3) matched up with rival Roberts Wesleyan, the two sides played to a scoreless draw in the Highlanders regular-season finale.
In their American Mideast Conference semifinal clash, it took the Highlanders exactly 2:24 to get onto the scoreboard, and they never looked back en route to a 3-0 victory.
IWU Soccer Matches Set for Saturday

Indiana Wesleyan University will compete in both Mid-Central College Conference soccer tournament championship matches on Saturday.
The Wildcats will travel in both matches and each will play the top seed in the tournament.

Freshman finishes sixth at NAIA qualifying meet
Southern Wesleyan’s Meg Donaldson, a freshman from Camden, S.C., qualified for the NAIA Women’s Cross Country National Championships on Saturday after finishing sixth at the NAIA qualifying meet this past Friday which combined teams from the Southern States Athletic Conference and the TranSouth Conference.
Donaldson passed several runners on her way to the finish line as she finished the five kilometer course in 19:57. Donaldson will participate in the NAIA Women’s Cross Country National Championships in Vancouver, Washington on Saturday, November 21. The women’s race is scheduled to begin at 11:45 a.m. PST.
OKWU Men’s and Women’s Teams Both Victorious

For the second game in a row, the Oklahoma Wesleyan University men’s basketball squad held off a Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent late in the game, taking down McPherson College (Kan.) on the road, 82-77.
Leading the Bulldogs at halftime 40-25, the Eagles had the momentum heading into the locker room. However, the scrappy Bulldogs came out of the locker room fighting, closing that game to eventually take a four-point lead late in the game.
IWU Men’s and Women’s Soccer Advance to MCCC Championships

The Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) men’s soccer teamdefeated host Goshen College just four minutes before the match’s completion, 1-0, in Goshen. The Wildcats advance to the Mid-Central College Conference tournament championship match.
IWU advances to the MCC championship match which will be held next Saturday, November 14, and will play the winner of No. 1-seed Bethel College (Indiana) and No. 5-seed Taylor University (Indiana).
SWU Warriors Win Season Opener

The Southern Wesleyan University men's basketball team began their season with a win, beating Truett McConnell College, 94-81 in Cleveland, Georgia.
The Warriors' field goal shooting was on fire the entire game as they shot 61 percent from the floor in the first half and then 59 percent in the second half. The Bears had a good shooting night as well, finishing the game with a 51 percent field goal percentage.

With its games now being streamed on the Internet, Oklahoma Wesleyan University men's basketball team continues to defend its 2009 national championship title. Ranked number one in an NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) pre-season coaches' poll, the national champion Eagles celebrated a 110-100 victory over Friends University, Tuesday, November 4. Top-10 Start for IWU Men’s Basketball in NAIA Preseason Poll

Indiana Wesleyan University men's basketball will open the season as the No. 9-ranked team according to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division II Top-25 Coaches' Preseason Poll.
The Wildcats receive the recognition based on a stellar 29-7 record in 2008-09, a season with the second-most wins in program history. IWU earned the Mid-Central College Conference regular season co-championship and advanced to the NAIA Elite Eight for the second time in three seasons.

The Houghton College women's soccer team (13-1-2, 8-1-0) outshot visiting Shawnee State University (1-11-1) 18-3, and converted that offensive pressure into a 3-0 shutout for its seventh consecutive victory.
Despite putting seven more shots on goal in the first half the Highlanders were unable to get another score before the break, and took the field for the second 45 minutes with a 1-0 advantage. They would waste little time expanding on it.
Houghton will return to action Wednesday when they travel to Pittsburgh to take on Point Park University.
Indiana Wesleyan Named NAIA Champion of Character

The National Association Intercollegiate (NAIA) national office in Kansas City released the list of Champions of Character institutions for the 2008-09 season.
Indiana Wesleyan University was one of the 231 colleges and university that received the recognition. The NAIA and member institutions use the Champions of Character program to instill an understanding of character values in sport, and provide student-athletes, coaches and parents the training to help them know and do the right things, inside and outside the sports setting.

IWU Women’s Soccer Falls to No. 18 in NAIA Poll

Indiana Wesleyan University women's soccer dropped nine spots to No. 18 in the latest National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Top-25 Coaches' Poll.
The fall in the ranking coincides with a 1-0 loss to Marian University (IN) on Tuesday evening. Unbeaten Marian is one of two teams remaining in the NAIA without a loss.
SWU Volleyball Event to Benefit Fight Against Breast Cancer

For the third consecutive year, the Southern Wesleyan University volleyball team will use their sport to raise money to assist with breast cancer research.
On Saturday, October 31, SWU will host Faulkner University in Central, S.C., at 1:00 p.m. The match has been designated as a "Dig Pink" match which is a program that over 1,000 high schools and colleges are participating in this volleyball season. "Dig Pink" is being sponsored by the Side-Out Foundation with the money raised going to help fund research for breast cancer. Both teams will wear pink uniforms and historic Tysinger Gymnasium will be decorated in pink.
Houghton Splits Recent Field Hockey Contests

Houghton College women's field hockey team lost, 6-1, to Susquehanna University on October 17.
Susquehanna (6—8 overall) opened the scoring first in the non-conference game in Selinsgrove, Penn. Houghton (4—7 overall) recorded its lone goal soon after. Susquehanna has outscored its opponents in the last two games, 13—1.
Houghton Soccer Teams Victorious Over Weekend

Houghton College men's and women's soccer teams saw action this past weekend, and both teams were victorious over Malone University (Ohio).
The women's team (11-1-2, 7-1) earned a hard fought victory on Saturday over a scrappy Malone team by a final score of 1-0 in a cold, rainy American Mideast Conference game. Houghton's goal came 16:24 into the match when Malone committed a foul in the box to set up a penalty kick for Amy-Kaye Mitchell.
