The School of Theology and Ministry at Indiana Wesleyan University is offering a new online course, titled New Testament Survey, for high school juniors and seniors seeking to obtain college credit. The three-credit course will start on Jan. 8, 2018 and end on April 20, 2018. Credits will be transferable anywhere.
New Testament Survey, or BIL-102, covers the literature of the New Testament. Special attention will be given to the life of Christ and the history of the early Church, including the life of Paul. Students will be required to use two books throughout the course: The Bible (any version) and “Jesus is Lord, An Introduction to the New Testament” by Dr. Ken Schenck.
The course will be taught by Professor Leanne Ketcham, who became an ordained pastor of The Wesleyan Church in 2014. She is a graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University (B.S. Christian Ministries; Biblical Literature) and Princeton Theological Seminary (Master of Divinity). She is a doctoral candidate at Emmanuel College of Victoria University at the University of Toronto in the area of homiletics.
The course will cost $450 ($150 per credit hour). To enroll, students must be a junior or senior in high school and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Students must also submit an application before Jan. 5, 2018. The $25 application fee will be waived for applications submitted before Dec. 10, 2017.
“We’re excited to offer yet another Indiana Wesleyan course online for individuals who are not currently or not yet on our campus,” said Dr. Ken Schenck, dean of Theology and Ministry. “New Testament Survey is one of those courses from which every Christian can benefit, and it’s not the kind of course you would normally get at a secular college—at least not from a Christian point of view. We’re bringing the course to you.”
