Typhoon Ruby hit Samar Island in the Philippines, which forced Wesleyan pastors and people to live in an evacuation center within five days.
“Strong Typhoon Ruby hit Catbalogan Samar, Philippines on December 6-7,2014, said Rev. Roel Cruz, pastor of Catbalogan Wesleyan Church, Samar. “That day God saved the people of Catbalogan, Samar–of nine unstoppable strong gusty winds. After the storms we experienced a total blackout with no electricity for almost two weeks and no water available.”
This is the second typhoon to hit the Philippines in 13 months. Typhoon Haiyan hit the islands in November 2013, devastating millions. The Wesleyan Church continues to provide help to Wesleyans in the Philippines, whether prayer or financial support.
