A free online conference for pastors and leaders is being offered January 19, 2016, for Wesleyans and non-Wesleyans alike.
The Generation to Generation Conference, a free, three-hour event, will assist pastors and leaders in providing age-appropriate ministries within the local church, while thoughtfully engaging intergenerational opportunities.
The conference is key for those who serve at a multi-generational church and desire for better teamwork between those generations. The topic of faith formation opportunities will also be discussed.
Nationally-known speakers will include Carey Neiuwhof, Kara Powell, Dan Reiland, April Diaz, Corey Doiron, Jim and Jerolyn Bogear, and Alex Mandura. Speakers will challenge participants and share practical ideas that will help attendees become better at discussing a wide variety of topics like parenting, marriage, mentoring, adolescent development, church-wide programming, age-appropriate ministries, intergenerational ministries, senior citizens, and more.
“Because of the explosive growth in age-appropriate ministry programming and professionalized staffing, we’re at a time where the majority of our local churches and even denominations are trying to sort through how to provide effective programming and ministries to different generations,” said Matthew Deprez, intergenerational pastor at Frontline Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and coordinator of the conference. “What does it mean to genuinely connect generations and how do we learn from each other? How do we provide faith formation for the entire church family?”
Addressing these issues and starting these type of conversations might be difficult for local churches and their teams.
