The Central Canada District (CCD) is seeing a change in leadership upon the retirement of Dr. Peter Rigby (right) after six years of dedicated service as district superintendent (DS).
Rigby pastored at Kingston Standard Wesleyan Church in Kingston, Ontario, for 34 years before serving as DS. He says he is thankful for the opportunity to have served.
“The district board of administration, the pastors and congregational leaders recognize their calling to be the people of God and, as people of God, to make a difference in our communities, our country and the world,” he said.
During his tenure, Rigby served under General Superintendents Dr. JoAnne Lyon and Dr. Wayne Schmidt.
“The two General Superintendents I served under were extremely supportive and encouraging. It was also a privilege to work with the Canadian leadership of Dr. H.C. Wilson, Peter Moore and our recently elected National Superintendent Dr. Steve Elliott,” said Rigby.
Dr. Eric Hallett (left) was elected to serve as the new DS for the CCD.
Rigby said, “Dr. Hallett brings many strengths to the position. Under his leadership, the CCD will continue to encourage disciples to make disciples and churches to multiply themselves.”
Hallett has served the Wesleyan church for the past 30 years as a youth pastor, church planter, adjunct professor and lead pastor. He says his passion is missional leadership, and he looks forward to serving the pastors and churches of the Central Canada District.
“I echo the prayer of our General Superintendent that we celebrate every time a disciple makes a disciple and a church multiplies itself until there is a transforming presence in every Canadian postal code,” Hallett said. “I commit to assembling excellent personnel, to contribute to the success of every church and pastor, and to follow Christ in sacrificial servant leadership. These I will commit to with the strength of God and the help of the pastors, lay people and congregations in the Central Canada District. The transition to district superintendent is exciting, and I look forward to having a front row seat to watch the multiplication and transforming work our district does through Jesus Christ.”
Hallett was elected Friday, June 21, at the CCD district conference.
