He will bless those who fear the Lord—small and great alike. (Ps. 115:13)
WHEN THEY FIRST STEPPED IN and the boat began to rock, Daniel’s eyes grew wider. His father’s grip on his shoulder assured him that he didn’t need to be afraid. “Son, we’ve waited a long time for this, haven’t we?” Daniel could feel his heart beating in his chest, and he didn’t know if he was more excited or nervous about what was about to happen.
On the open waters, the wind whipped their voices around. Daniel leaned against his dad, who quietly reminded him that they were safe with their life vests and their skilled captain. They had taken swimming lessons and researched all they could about the creatures they hoped to see.
When the captain cut the loud engine an hour later, the calm was surprising. Now just the quiet lap of the waves and a gentle breeze remained. The captain looked this way and that, building everyone’s anticipation.
Suddenly, the sea family they’d been watching for began to slap their fins. They dove playfully and showed their flukes. They were mesmerizing as they played. In a grand finale, the largest humpback slowly drew up from the ocean and breached, splashing everyone on board.
Our God is mightier than anything we can imagine. But he loves for us to look for him, so he can reveal himself as our help, shield, and source of highest blessing.
Look for the ways God is revealing his power to you today.
