According to today’s forecast for Hurricane Florence, 23.7 million residents of the Carolinas and Virginia are in the path of the Category 4 storm. Nearly 30,000 of those residents attend Wesleyan churches.
Thanks to diligent meteorologists and the media, residents in those and neighboring states have been warned, evacuation measures have been taken and relief organizations are being mobilized to respond as necessary. World Hope International (WHI) is coordinating mobilization efforts with district superintendents in multiple districts located along the U.S. East Coast. The Wesleyan Church is partnering with WHI (both in the U.S. and in Canada) and our district leaders to keep you informed of relief needs, efforts and updates.
We need to pray – for protection, for provision, for peace throughout the next few days and during the resulting impact of storm damage.
Will you join me in praying for our Wesleyan sisters and brothers and their neighbors residing in Hurricane Florence’s path?
May God comfort and lead us.
Wayne Schmidt, General Superintendent, The Wesleyan Church
