Over the past 2½ years God has been opening a wide door of opportunity for the gospel in Cuba. Clara and I have been traveling there twice a year.
On our August trip, three great people from North Carolina came along. Two of them were surveyors who laid out the foundation for the building that will be a local church and also serve as the District Center. It took eight years to obtain a permit for this. To our knowledge, no church building permits had been allowed in Cuba for fifty-three years! What an amazing, unexpected result. These things only happen by prayer. The Lord is moving!
On this same trip a youth pastor from NC preached with 150 youth present. Some of the young people traveled for nine hours, one way, in the back of a truck to attend our youth convention. The youth tended to keep long days and short nights, but the Lord is forever young and met with them!
Dr. John Connor, International Director of the Jesus Film Ministry for Global Partners, met with leaders of TWC-Cuba and trained the team that is implementing the Jesus Film Ministry in Cuba. The first showings have brought very exciting results. There is hunger for the gospel, God is providing wonderful opportunities, and these are bearing fruit for the kingdom. Our focused prayers are making a difference for new life in Cuba!
