“Your sons and daughters will prophesy”
Acts 2:17 NIV
PreacHer Sunday celebrates your call to preach the Good News!
The PreacHer Sunday initiative seeks to encourage Wesleyan churches to invite a gifted and called woman to preach in local churches who do not already have a regular rotation of women in the pulpit.
It is also a time to celebrate the many churches who recognize the gifts of women and men, have a regular rotation of women bringing the Word, or who have a female lead pastor during regular worship services.
PreacHer Sunday is about elevating and celebrating the gifts that God gives to men and women to serve the church through the preaching of The Word.
We believe that Women and Men are:
- Bearers of God’s Image
- Blessed to preach the Good News
- Burdened with the Great Commission
We believe in Acts 2:17!
We at The Wesleyan Church, know that a person’s gender doesn’t define their ability to serve in vocational ministry, yet only 22% of Wesleyan pastors are women. We desire to see that number grow!
In the act of ordination, it says, “Take authority to preach the Word of God, to administer the holy sacraments, and to perform the duties of an ordained minister in the Church.”
PreacHer Sunday isn’t about elevating women or victimizing their experience. It is not a call to unnaturally promote the females on staff at your church.
It is an opportunity to celebrate the gifts and authority given to those called by God, not an elevation of a particular gender.
Get Involved!
God is present whenever His people are gathered, so feel free to select any Sunday that works best for your leadership team, any month of the year!
If you don’t have a female pastor on staff, we hope you use this as an opportunity to invite an ordained woman to your church. You can contact your district office for more information.
