Katie Long has been with Wesleyan Publishing House (WPH) for 5 years and wears many hats! She serves as the assistant to Janelle Vernon, the Executive Director of the Communication and Administration department, is part of the marketing team for WPH, manages acquisitions, and assists the editorial team when needed. While she loves every aspect of her job, Katie’s favorite thing to do is talk to potential authors about their books because she loves seeing a book at its beginning and then holding the final product when it is finished.
Katie’s favorite project that she worked on is Unforced Rhythms by Gwen Jackson because it gave her the freedom to pursue God in her own natural ways instead of trying to force herself into what everyone else was doing.
Apart from work, Katie enjoys spending time with her husband and new baby, Galileo, and her two Mainecoon kitties, Nova and Vega, who are the loudest, most snuggly cats she has ever known.
Often she is reminded of a verse in Romans:
“And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’ The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ . . .” (vv. 15–17 NIV).
As the holidays approach, Katie is most excited for her family tradition of reading the birth story of Jesus on Christmas morning and enjoying homemade cinnamon rolls.
While Katie looks forward to the new year, know she is committed to prepping the many details of General Conference and excited to join the Wesleyan family as we work together to unleash the Kingdom.
