Wesley Seminary is proud to announce the installation of its first president, Rev. Colleen Derr, Ed.D.
Dr. Derr succeeds Dr. Jo Anne Lyon, General Superintendent Emeritus, who served Wesley Seminary in an interim role, and Dr. Wayne Schmidt, current General Superintendent of The Wesleyan Church, the seminary’s first executive leader.
Dr. Derr will be installed as president at College Wesleyan Church in Marion, Indiana, on Wednesday, April 4, 2018. The installation will begin at 11:00 a.m. After the installation, Wesley Seminary will host an open house in its building from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Tuesday, April 3, at 6:15 p.m., Wesley Seminary will host Sem Talks in the Globe Theater at Indiana Wesleyan University. The event is comprised of informative lectures by faculty, a discussion panel that will address critical issues in ministry.
All three events are free and open to the public.
Wesley Seminary has an enrollment of 460 students and offers four degrees: Master of Arts in Ministry, Master of Divinity, Master of Practical Theology and Doctor of Ministry. The first three degrees are also available in Spanish. Seven specializations are available to MA or M.Div. students: Children, Youth & Family Ministry, Church Health and Revitalization, Church Planting and Multiplication, Leadership, Pastoral Ministry, Spiritual Formation and Worship Arts. A unique specialization titled Pastoral Ministry was designed in partnership with Education and Clergy Development of The Wesleyan Church to satisfy all of the educational requirement for ordination.
