Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. (Rom. 5:11)
“LOUISE, THIS IS ABSOLUTELY the best piece of apple pie I have ever laid a lip on!” Charlie Weis looked across his dining room table at his guests. “You try it, and tell me what you think.” Their first bite of Louise’s apple pie was nothing short of exquisite. It was buttery. It was sweet, but not sugary—like the apples in the pie were fresh off the tree. The crust was flaky. After dessert, Charlie led them into the Weis family room, where an entire wall was dedicated to county and state fair ribbons Louise had won for her apple pie. It was clear that Charlie was happy to be his wife’s best ambassador.
Just like Charlie couldn’t stop talking about his wife’s apple pie, Paul couldn’t stop talking about the grace of God through Jesus Christ. In fact, Paul encouraged the entire Christian church to be ambassadors for Christ who were ready to tell the story of their peace with God through the Lord Jesus Christ. God’s great love for them was all the reason they needed to be enthusiastic witnesses.
It’s easy for most of us to talk about a favorite dessert or a spouse we love. It should be just as easy for us who know Jesus Christ to talk about Him and the reconciliation with God we enjoy through Him.
