United Wesleyan Church hosted a neighborhood open house, and Rev. Mark McKay reports lives are being “made new” as a result.
The Bellaire, Ohio, church had 87 people attend the event held September 26 in its neighborhood. The open house featured indoor and outdoor activities, music, spaghetti dinner, desserts and an ample amount of interaction with neighbors. The next morning three children returned for Sunday school and children’s church. One of the children also attended the midweek children’s service, a WKFM-based event (Wesleyan Kids for Missions).
A shut-in ministry has also begun at United Methodist.
“Recently I was asked to visit a homebound man that lives in our neighborhood and had the privilege of leading him to the Lord,” said Rev. McKay. “He has since been baptized and is working on a discipleship program. I see him every week at least once.” This gentleman’s family members attended the open house.
Two men from the church are holding monthly services in two area nursing facilities with “great success.”
“These often forgotten souls are being spiritually and emotionally fed,” said Rev. McKay. “[The men] bring songbooks and sing along with these precious folk and share the Word of God and encouragement with them.”
Rev. McKay and his wife, Dianne, are encouraged about what God is doing in their city and church.
“The Lord is doing a ‘new old thing’ here in the Bellaire, Ohio, area. To God by the glory!”
