Oklahoma Wesleyan University recognizes that paying for college and paying off loans after graduation can be hard on both parents and graduates. Concerns of debt can make many believe that a private liberal arts school, which offers quality Christian education, is impossible and out of their reach. Oklahoma Wesleyan University (OKWU) wants to partner with students to make this impossibility a reality.
OKWU is offering all incoming students PURSUE, the only plan of its kind in the state of Oklahoma. Pursue is a loan repayment assistant program. It allows OKWU to reward students’ hard work and enables them to pursue their calling–no matter what field they choose.
“Oklahoma Wesleyan University’s mission is grounded in the primacy of Jesus Christ, the priority of Scripture the pursuit of truth, and the practice of wisdom,” said Dr. Everett Piper, OKWU president. “It is very important to us that our students graduate and impact their culture with the Lordship of Jesus Christ and we want to do everything we can to make this possible without any of the undue stress that comes from the repayment of student loans.”
PURSUE is available to all incoming students. Upon graduation, through the PURSUE program, OKWU will partner with students with low to moderate income to assist them in paying back student loans. PURSUE covers all federal student loans, private alternative student loans, and parent PLUS loans. In order to receive assistance, students must graduate with a bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma Wesleyan University and must be employed a minimum of thirty hours a week.
