Dr. Philip T. Stevenson has been elected as district superintendent of the Pacific Southwest District of The Wesleyan Church, succeeding Dr. Stephen Babby, whose tenure of 39 years as district superintendent is the longest in the history of The Wesleyan Church.
Dr. Stevenson is a graduate of San Diego State University, Point Loma Nazarene University (MA in theology and philosophy), and Talbot School of Theology (D. Min. in church growth and multiplication in the 21st century). He has served as a youth pastor, assistant pastor, and as lead pastor at Arcade Wesleyan Church in Sacramento, Calif. He also served as district superintendent of the Wisconsin District, General Director of Evangelism and Church Growth for the Wesleyan denomination, and as full-time assistant district superintendent for the Pacific Southwest District, with a major emphasis in church planting, leadership development, and northern California area director. He has also served as an adjunct professor for various educational institutions.
He and his wife Joni have been married 39 years and have three adult children.
