“You will Shine like Stars in the Universe”
Fifteen hundred gathered in four locations for the Follow Tour over Dec 28-30, 2013. Host churches included Skyline Church in San Diego, Ca; Cypress Wesleyan Church in Columbus, OH; First Wesleyan Church in Tuscaloosa, AL and Newhope Wesleyan in Durham, NC.
As teens came together, they were challenged with a message to Follow Jesus in such a way that their lives would “shine like stars in the universe” (Phil 2:15). Shining like stars is much more than what we do. It’s about faith in Jesus Christ that makes possible a wonderful personal relationship with God, a holy life empowered by His Spirit that causes us to shine as a witness and service, and assurance of eternal life in heaven. Hundreds of students responded to that message, making first time commitments to Christ and answering the call into full time ministry. We are still processing the responses and decisions as we praise God for His faithfulness. The hope of the Follow tour is that young people will become more open and available to the presence of Jesus and his ways of compassion, and that it would light up every part of their life.
The Follow Tour will move on in 2014 in different locations across the N. America. These dates and locations will be announced very soon. The International Wesleyan Youth Convention is scheduled for December 28-31, 2015.
In 2010, the Follow Tour made its debut. This is a “hybrid event” of the International Wesleyan Youth Convention and the Regional Youth Convention. It is the desire of the Wesleyan Youth Movement to provide the same powerful and dynamic worship, insightful teaching, and inspired artists in smaller venues across North America throughout. The Follow Tour holds true the convention’s purpose, which is to move students towards a deeper understanding of God’s love, His call of purpose, and the mission of becoming more like Him every day.
