Follow is held every year, a “hybrid” of the International Wesleyan Youth Convention and regional youth conventions. At Follow, students experience powerful and dynamic worship, insightful teaching, and inspiring artists. In 2013-2014, Follow will be held in various Wesleyan churches across North America.
This year the Follow tour’s focus is grounded in Philippians 2:15 “… Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky.”
St. Francis of Assisi once said, “Preach the gospel, and if necessary, use words.” Perhaps the light of Christ is best shown in how we treat one another, how we behave in public, how we spend our money, and how we are in friendships and interactions with other people. However, shining like stars is much more than what we do or even how we pray. It’s about faith in Jesus Christ that makes possible a personal relationship with God, a holy life empowered by his Spirit that causes us to shine as a witness, and shine with the assurance of eternal life in heaven.
The hope of the Follow tour isn’t that young people will become more religious or spiritual—it’s that young people will become more open and available to the presence of Jesus and his ways of compassion and that would light up every part of their lives.
