“I love learning; and I love serving those who love learning. So, I see my job as basically finding ways to connect Houghton College with those who have the same love and longing for learning,” Schenck said.
“One of the hallmarks of Houghton College Online is that we have deliberately and intentionally created an environment that mirrors the residential campus.” Blair said.
Since Shannon’s life before becoming a professor was deeply immersed in the business world, he is able to impart practical knowledge to his students and connect what is being communicated in the textbook to relevant experience.
“Houghton is a fantastic community. There is such a close interaction between the students and faculty,” Webb said.
The students coming through SWU are “not formed to be cookie cutter ministerial students,” said Summers. Each student has different callings, gifts and talents; SWU is helping each student to be exactly who God has called them to be.
