The righteous will rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in him; all the upright in heart will glory in him! (Ps. 64:10)
Expanded Passage: Psalm 64:1-10
“I thought when you have faith and come to Jesus your life is stress free?” exclaimed one of my new Bible school students. Having been raised under difficult circumstances, he had imagined a problem-free life in his newfound relationship with Christ. How easy it is for us to think the same.
What we have to remember in these moments is that faith will not always make all things stress free, but it does make all things possible. In our spiritual journey, faith does not necessarily mean the results will cause ease, but rather helps us see the miraculous possibilities in the face of trials and unbearable situations.
David faced all manner of personal attacks. He had moments of total breakdown and was overwhelmed with life’s struggles. Nevertheless, as a true leader at heart, he knew where and to whom he needed to turn. David’s belief in God overcame the fear of his impending troubles. When faced with a crisis of belief, his conviction was strongly rooted in the revealed truth of Jehovah, his helper.
God is our source of divine strength and our weapon in battle. Where others give up, we can refuse to let go, knowing that God is our victory and a helper in times of trouble. Remember, testimonies are birthed in a series of tests and resilient characters are forged in the furnace of life’s trials and persecution.
Turn to God our helper in times of trouble.
