The Wesleyan Church is proud to announce a three-year partnership with Nitrogen Urban Network to facilitate the THRIVE Initiative, a powerful journey designed to create a network of urban leaders and pastors who are passionate about strengthening discipleship, community engagement and multiplying churches that fulfill the Great Commission.

Funded by a $1 million matching grant from the Lilly Foundation, the THRIVE Initiative is a strategic effort to empower The Wesleyan Church to be at the center of what God is already doing in our urban cities across the United States as we look to plant more churches.

“As The Wesleyan Church looks to multiplying in urban communities across the United States, I believe it’s crucial that we lead by being a good neighbor through connecting with, learning from and empowering those who have been laboring in the urban core for years,” explains Reverend Troy Evans, urban catalyst and director of Nitrogen Urban Network. “By leading with a kingdom mindset, The Wesleyan Church can be a part of cultivating a culture of urban discipleship that will result in a movement of Urban Church planting for many years to come.”

Dr. Ed Love, executive director of Church Multiplication and Discipleship shares, “As God moves through U.S. urban communities, The Wesleyan Church is committed to walking alongside faithful laborers in these spaces and reflecting Christ’s heart for Christian discipleship. May you find joy in being part of this calling — multiplying churches, making disciples and watching God’s kingdom flourish in ways only he can orchestrate.”

This is a dollar-for-dollar matching fund that allows all funds invested by districts, individuals and churches to be matched up to $1 million by the Lilly Foundation.
