I am walking toward fulfilling my calling

On December 8, 1991, my journey following the call that God placed on my life began. I joined a Unitarian Church where the calling of women is not acknowledged. This was my first obstacle and also an opportunity to trust in God. While people can create barriers, when God calls you, He takes responsibility for breaking down every obstacle so that His purpose and will for your life can be fulfilled. We just need to obey and believe that everything happens in God’s timing.”

During my 8 years of service in that church, I was able to prepare myself for my calling. Despite the fact that the church did not support women in leadership roles, I was involved in various areas of service such as evangelism, discipleship, ushering, benevolence, presiding, visiting homes and hospitals, leading prayer services in homes, women’s ministry, and conducting services in other cities, both on the street and in homes. This experience taught me that when God calls you for a purpose, He equips you through serving.

In 2004, a colleague at my workplace informed me about a Bible institute offering a “Pastoral Ministries” class. At that moment, I felt a stirring in my heart and knew it was the time for me to pursue God’s calling. I reached out to the FLAMA coordinator, and a door opened for me to begin my preparation. Dr. Edgar Chacón taught the class and imparted some valuable advice to me. He emphasized the importance of continuous learning, regardless of age. Dr. Chacón has been my inspiration due to his dedication to education and his sacrificial service for the work of God. I started pastoring in 2011 and was ordained in 2013, where I witnessed the fulfillment of God’s promise and call in my life.

Since then, I began my studies at FLAMA and not only that, I began studying at school, obtaining 2 Associate certifications in Social Work and Business Administration. That time of preparation was full of difficult times. The loss of my father, mother and my 2 older brothers, surgeries, but I never gave up, despite the pain, sadness and discouragement, I continued to believe in that call that God placed in my heart, and it was what kept me and kept me on my feet. Despite discouragement, I continued to believe in the call that God placed in my heart, and it was what kept me going.

Now, as the coordinator of Flama in Kansas, I feel a strong sense of responsibility to inspire others to pursue their goals without making excuses due to their age or life circumstances. As it says in Romans 8:28, everything works together for good for those who love God and are called according to his purpose. It’s a promise that I hold on to during difficult times.

On June 4, I turned 57, and I desire to continue my theological studies at Wesley Seminary. Everything will align with God’s purpose, will, and timing.

Rev. Rutila Valle grew up in Mexico. She has participated in many local church ministries where the Lord has led her to serve and pastor. She has 3 children, Silvia, Anna Ruth, and Eduardo. She moved to Kansas in 2001 and attended a Wesleyan church in 2004 in Emporia, Ks.

Rev. Valle is a Church Planter in Wichita, Ks. “It has been a time full of challenges and trials, but here I am now in the new plantation of the “Cristo Libertador” Church. I give glory to God for setting his eyes on me, giving me this calling with purpose and under His will.”  Romans 8:28

The PreacHer Sunday initiative seeks to encourage Wesleyan churches to invite a gifted and called woman to preach in local churches that do not already have a regular rotation of women in the pulpit.

It is also a time to celebrate the many churches that recognize the gifts of women and men, have a regular rotation of women bringing the Word, or have a female lead pastor during regular worship services. Learn more about this here.
