The Wesleyan Church World Headquarters in Fishers, Ind., has achieved a historic milestone.
For the first time in its history, the denominational headquarters has been named a Best Christian Workplace in 2014. The headquarters even achieved this status in its first year of applying with the program. This also marks the first time a church headquarters has achieved this feat at such a fast pace.
“It is a joy to work with people whose purpose is to live out Christ-like attitudes and character,” said Dr. Jo Anne Lyon, General Superintendent of The Wesleyan Church. “This award is the result of these desires of our great team at Wesleyan Headquarters. It deeply moves me.”
Of the 80 part-time and full-time employees at Wesleyan headquarters, over 88 percent participated in the Best Christian Workplace survey.
Areas of strength reported for The Wesleyan Church included (in no particular order) employee satisfaction with retirement plans, supervisors who assist in solving ministry or work-related problems, and character of leaders who exhibit fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, Galatians 5:22-23).
The Wesleyan Church World Headquarters seeks to improve in personal growth and development and performance evaluations.
Certification is effective November 2013 to October 2014.
